Starting from this update, the version of the
GEORADAR-EXPERT software system has been changed from 2.0 to 2.1. The change of
the version is due to a significant revision of the automated analysis
algorithm of the back-scattered electromagnetic field (BSEF). The performance
of the algorithm has been improved in terms of both speed and quality. As a
result, the recommendations for setting up automated BSEF analysis and creating
section have been updated in the User Manual.
Previously, you sometimes needed to preprocess a
GPR profile before performing a BSEF analysis. Now pre-processing is no longer
needed, except when the GPR profile is recorded with an excessively small
profile step compared to what is recommended in the User Manual. In this case,
to bring the GPR profiling step to the recommended value, you need to decimate
the GPR profile horizontally using the appropriate tool implemented in
GEORADAR-EXPERT.
Excessively large GPR profiling
step (distance between GPR traces) leads to the absence of the diffraction
component of the wavefield on the GPR profile. Previously, this was an obstacle
to correct BSEF analysis. Now, as a result of implementing the new algorithm
for automated BSEF analysis, there is no such problem. Now, with the help of the
automated BSEF analysis, it is possible to correctly process GPR data obtained
as a result of GPR profiling with a large step.
The algorithms for the automated calculation of the
default available corrective functions used to minimize BSEF analysis errors have changed. The
number of varieties of these functions has also changed. Now it is easier to
choose the type of corrective functions. The variants of section creation
settings that do not require correction of BSEF analysis results, and therefore
do not require the use of a corrective function, have become more common.
The principle of creating corrective functions in
manual mode has changed. Sliders are now used to fine-tune the shape of the
corrective function, which makes the process of creating a corrective function
easier. Also, you can divide the GPR profile into fragments, and define a
different type of corrective function for each fragment.
There are new tools for colormap editing, allowing
you to change the colormap using sliders and specialized controllers, as well
as by dragging the colormap fragments to a new location in the colormap. All these tools allow you to effectively
upgrade already ready colormaps, which are available by default, to visually
highlight one or another element of the section, depending on the task of GPR
survey.
The generator of random colormaps was modernized.
In its algorithm, it is added taking into account the ratios of elements of a
randomly created colormap to correct this map in order to create high-contrast
colormaps, or vice versa, colormaps with soft color changes, which are well
suited for visualizing a section in the fill mode between contours.
The graphical user interface of the GEORADAR-EXPERT
software system has changed, especially in terms of managing the settings for
creating an attribute section. In connection with this, the GEORADAR-EXPERT
User Manual has been significantly changed, especially the chapters of the
manual dedicated to automated BSEF analysis. The latest version of the user
manual can be downloaded from this link.
